It was year 2007 I first started using FB. There was genuine fun in there then. FB was only used by a small number and was pretty junk-free among people who enjoyed virtual in-group communication. That privilege seems now gone since we lost control over what we’re doing. Much more, it’s time consuming. Once you click ‘like’ button on a newbie, you’re easily snowed under with invitations and messages. Can be more stress than enjoyment. But isn’t the same with the Internet use ?
How about ‘stop using it’? No, you can’t. There are friends whom you catch up only through FB and our status update has become office registration. Furthermore, you fear criticism about anti-social or FB phobic , don’t you?
I think Facebook is the ‘America Online’ of our time. What was once a ‘gated community’ is now spilling over its borders. The walls will come down, as they did for AOL.
I would vote for your prediction. It’s surprising to see such an increase of the number in FB users in such a short period of time. We admit it has offered us unprecedented networking opportunity beyond geographical boundaries. However, despite its merits, FB is throwing at us so many negative aspects, such as privacy invasion, on-line addiction, health related issues, socio-economical concerns… Then, dear Mr admin, are we creating a FB group, entitled ‘We object to FaceBook use’ ?
