I had a TEFL English Teaching Certification when I landed in Cambodia, which immediately found me teaching at Tiger Beer and Phnom Penh Airport.
The general approach of most schools seemed to be that if there were no complaints from the client, all was good. Many would-be teachers were handed a coursebook and a class schedule and left to improvise, hence the title. I moved on to greener pastures after one term, disillusioned and unimpressed. But I'm still in touch with a handful of former students and teachers, many of whom have migrated to other jobs and countries.
